Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline

Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline (SNYFGP) was formed in 2014 to stop the Northeast Energy Direct fracked gas pipeline. In 2016 we won that fight! Now we support groups who fight fossil fuels in their communities and promote statewide policy solutions to the climate crisis. We call for the transformation of New York’s energy economy to 100% renewables. Community Advocates for a Sustainable Environment (CASE) our sister organization organizes the Renewable Energy and Sustainable Living Fair.

Currently we are fighting the Albany Loop Pipeline, proposed by National Grid. This 7 mile pipeline would go under the Hudson River, cut across East Greenbush and connect to another pipeline in North Greenbush. For more information click here.

SNYFGP is an active member of the Sheridan Hollow Alliance for Renewable Energy (SHARE) that fought and stoped a proposed fracked gas powerplant in an environmental justice community of Albany.

We are also active in the Divest NY coalition that successfully got the NYC and NYS pension funds to divest from fossil fuels. Join us in our current fight to get the NYS Teacher’s Retirement Fund to divest.

TAKE ACTION:
Send Comments to the Public Service Commission Opposing the National Grid Rate Hike and Climate Destruction – The gas rate hike proposed by National Grid would fund $41.8 million in new gas delivery infrastructure, in just one year alone, continuing to harm us instead of helping us. This request includes money for the E37/Albany Loop Pipeline too.

Sign the petition to stop the E-37 Albany Loop Pipeline – As of 9/2021, the proposed pipeline is on hold due to lower power demand and COVID-19 impacts; but it continues to be “on the table” for future development and reactivation should market conditions or fluctuations change.  The project is included in the National Grid 3-year plan before the PSC.
